A second national grid collapse occurred on Tuesday morning, less than 24 hours after the first incident on Monday night. The latest outage was reported at 9:17 AM, resulting in widespread loss of power supply across the affected networks.
Ikeja Electric informed its customers, “Please be informed that we experienced another system outage today 15/10/2025 @ 09:17hrs affecting supply within our network. Restoration effort is ongoing, and we ask our customers to bear with us.”
The situation follows a nationwide blackout on Monday, October 14, when electricity distribution companies confirmed a grid collapse at approximately 6:48 PM. The Kaduna DisCo addressed its customers, stating, “Dear Esteemed Customers, we sincerely apologise for the power outage in our franchise states since yesterday evening.
This is as a result of the collapse of the national grid which occurred at about 18:05 PM on Monday, October 14th. The team at the Transmission Company of Nigeria are making efforts to restore supply back to the grid after which we shall restore to customers across all our franchise. We deeply regret any inconvenience this may have caused.”
Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), which serves parts of Lagos State, confirmed the latest incident via their X handle, saying, “Dear valued customer, kindly be informed that there was a system collapse at 09:17hrs which has resulted in a loss of power supply across our network. We are currently working with our partners as we hope for a speedy restoration of the grid. We will keep you updated as soon as power is restored. Kindly bear with us.”
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) also noted the grid collapse occurred at 6:58 PM on Monday. Emeka Ezeh, spokesperson for the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, stated that the general system collapse happened at 18:48 hours, leading to widespread power outages across their network. The EEDC expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to its customers.

As the situation unfolds, the Kaduna Electric reported that all interface Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) stations were out of supply, affecting service delivery in several states, including Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo. The company is awaiting detailed information regarding the collapse and restoration efforts.
Meanwhile, AEDC announced upcoming maintenance exercises in parts of the Federal Capital Territory for Wednesday, October 16. They informed affected customers that this maintenance is essential for better service delivery and regret any inconvenience it may cause.
With two collapses in rapid succession, electricity distribution companies are under pressure to restore power and reassure customers about ongoing efforts to stabilize the grid.
