His death was confirmed by Yeye Bose Akinola, the Oyo State governor of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).

Akinola expressed her condolences, stating, “May God give his family and the entire TAMPAN members globally the fortitude to bear the loss. Insha Allah, Amen.”

Olabiyi served as the National General Secretary of TAMPAN and had previously held the position of governor for the association in Oyo State. His contributions to the Nigerian film industry, particularly within the Yoruba community, have left a lasting impact.
