The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has issued a stern warning to roadside beggars to cease their activities or face arrest by enforcement agents.
This announcement was made by the minister during the flag-off ceremony for the construction of an access road to the newly initiated judges’ quarters in Katampe.
The minister expressed concern over the alarming number of individuals occupying the roads, stating that their presence poses a significant threat to security in the metropolis. He set an ultimatum for October 27, 2024, urging those affected to vacate the streets.
During the event, the minister also recounted how he had previously revoked the certificate of occupancy (C of O) for certain plots of land allocated to the German construction company, Julius Berger, in the Katampe District of Abuja.

The official flag-off ceremony for the design and construction of 40 judges’ quarters was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, and the President of the Court of Appeal of Nigeria, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem.
The minister announced that 70% of the funds for the judges’ quarters project had already been released following its approval by the Federal Executive Council last month. He detailed that out of the 40 units being constructed, 20 will be allocated to the FCT High Court, 10 to the Federal High Court, and 10 to the Court of Appeal.
