A yet-to-be-identified man was killed on Monday after being struck by a moving train in the Ikeja area of Lagos State. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of the day.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed the incident, stating that the agency received a distress call at 8:28 a.m. on Monday. In a statement released on Tuesday, he detailed the agency’s response to the situation.
“On arrival of the Eagle Response Team at the incident scene by 0902hrs, LRT discovered the body of an adult male lying dead on the railway track,” Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu said. He further explained that initial investigations revealed the man was hit by the train earlier that morning.

Following their assessment, the response team bagged the body and handed it over to the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) for transportation to the morgue.
This latest incident follows closely on the heels of another tragedy less than two weeks prior, where a 50-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel, was killed by a moving train near the Arena Shopping Mall in Oshodi, Lagos.
