Popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, was arrested at the Seme Border on Monday morning while attempting to exit the country.
Witnesses reported that Bobrisky arrived at the departure section of the border post in a black Mercedes Benz SUV around 1:30 a.m.
‘He was arrested at midnight and detained until this morning, and he’s currently being moved to the Lagos zone of the NIS in Ikeja. He gave his passport to someone to stamp it for him, so, the officer saw the name immediately among others and requested that he should come down from the vehicle.” the source said.
According to sources, Bobrisky was initially stopped by Port Health officials, but the driver continued on to the Immigration checkpoint. There, Bobrisky handed over his passport for stamping to the driver.
Immigration surveillance officer Yusuf recognized him during the inspection and immediately alerted the senior officer on duty, who then summoned Mr. Muhammad Adamu, the Controller of Immigration at Seme Command.
The surveillance officer invited Bobrisky for further processing, and upon arriving at the surveillance unit, he was taken to the controller’s office for questioning.
A lawyer representing Bobrisky later arrived at the border to inquire about the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
Bobrisky remained in the controller’s office until approximately 4:00 p.m. when he was transferred to the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) for further investigation.
The NIS confirmed Bobrisky’s arrest, with Public Relations Officer Kenneth Udo stating that it was due to his status as “a person of interest over recent issues of public concern.”
Udo added, “In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, NIS intercepted Bobrisky at the Seme Border over an attempt to exit the country.”

Confirming the detention, FCID spokesperson Mayegun Aminat stated, “He is detained at FCID Alagbon. He is with us and we are to get a remand to keep him in custody today.”
Udo reiterated the NIS’s commitment to professionalism in its border operations, assuring the public of its dedication to maintaining order and security at Nigeria’s borders.
