The Katsina State Police Command has detained Abubakar Nasiru, known as Haro, from Daura LG, on charges of criminal conspiracy and kidnapping.
“Nasiru, previously convicted of rape, was implicated in a kidnapping incident during an ongoing investigation,” Sadiq noted.
He explained that Nasiru had conspired with others, currently at large, in a kidnapping that took place in 2023 in Unguwar Maza village, Kafur LGA.
During this incident, three individuals were kidnapped, and a ransom of N13 million was reportedly paid for their release. Nasiru admitted to receiving N2 million as his share.
The police have intensified their efforts to locate Nasiru’s accomplices, who remain on the run.
In another operation, officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested Ibrahim Isah of Yana village, Charanchi LG, for allegedly contacting the father of a missing man, Bello Sani, and demanding N1 million as ransom for his release. ASP Sadiq confirmed that police traced and apprehended Isah following a report.
Additionally, in collaboration with the Gombe State Police Command, Katsina police arrested 25-year-old Nasiru Sanusi of Gidan Daudu village, Kankara LGA. Sanusi is accused of conspiring with three accomplices to kidnap his uncle, a local ward head.
After receiving N8 million and six bags of fertilizer as ransom, the gang allegedly killed the victim. Sadiq revealed that Sanusi had fled to Lagos, Taraba, and eventually Gombe, where he continued engaging in criminal activities until his arrest.

“The suspect confessed to the crime, and investigations are ongoing to capture his accomplices. The command affirmed its commitment to pursue all fleeing suspects to ensure justice is served,” Sadiq added.
Likewise the police has apprehended a 16-year-old boy, Nuhu Haruna, from Dutsinma Local Government Area, for allegedly killing his stepmother, Rabi Haruna, during a violent altercation.
The arrest occurred amidst a broader operation targeting suspects involved in kidnapping and homicide across the state.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, detailed the incident during a press briefing at the Command headquarters on Wednesday.
He stated, “On October 21, 2024, at about 1:00 p.m., the command arrested one Nuhu Haruna, male, aged 16, of Fenza village, Dutsinma LGA, over a case of culpable homicide.”
Sadiq elaborated that the suspect reportedly struck his stepmother in the stomach with a stick during a misunderstanding, resulting in her untimely death.
