Wema Bank Emerged Nigeria’s Best Workplace in 2024

Wema Bank has been named the No. 1 Best Workplace in Nigeria at the Great Place To Work (GPTW) 2024 Awards, recognizing its commitment to employee well-being, work-life balance, and innovative work culture.

The award, presented at a ceremony in Lagos, highlighted Wema Bank’s exceptional support for its employees, including mental health initiatives and a comprehensive range of employee benefits. The GPTW Awards, which evaluate organizations based on employee feedback, recognized Wema Bank for prioritizing its employees’ overall well-being.

Great Place To Work is a globally recognized authority on workplace culture, assessing organizational culture through its Trust Index Survey, which gathers insights on leadership impact, workplace culture, and overall employee experience.

Organizations that meet the benchmark receive certification, and this year, Wema Bank earned the Platinum Award as the No. 1 Best Workplace in Nigeria, alongside two other awards: Best in Promoting Culture of Innovation By All and Best in Delivery of Learning and Development Practices**.

Wema Bank’s MD/CEO, Moruf Oseni, dedicated the award to the bank’s employees, emphasizing their role in the achievement. He said, “This award reflects our employees’ true perception of the bank… We will continue to provide an unparalleled work experience for them and a seamless banking experience for our customers.”

Oseni further elaborated on the bank’s employee-focused initiatives: “With highly competitive salaries, Cost-Of-Living Adjustment (COLA), which the bank pays to non full-time equivalent employees, a comprehensive welfare package with adequate HMO and pension benefits, strategic facilities like the Purple Crèche for employees with infants, a fully-equipped Gym for fitness enthusiasts and a host of other benefits, Wema Bank has continued to raise the standards for employee support, positive work culture and exceptional work-life balance among institutions and organisations.”

Oseni concluded by reiterating Wema Bank’s commitment to innovation: “As a Bank, we have become the standard for innovation and our mission to empower lives through innovation is a lifelong commitment that we will never relent on.”

In 2023, Wema Bank received its first Great Place To Work certification, winning four awards, including 2nd Best Place to Work in Nigeria (Large Corporate Organization Category) and Best in Promoting the Culture of Innovation by All.

This year, the bank surpassed its previous achievements, not only securing its second consecutive GPTW certification but also claiming the Platinum Award as the No. 1 Best Workplace in Nigeria.

These accolades reaffirm Wema Bank’s ongoing commitment to fostering a supportive, innovative, and employee-centric workplace culture.
