Nigerian music superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced plans to donate ₦300 million to orphanages across Nigeria in celebration of his 32nd birthday.
The singer made the announcement via his official Twitter (now X) account on Monday, revealing that the funds would also support a charity dedicated to helping young people stay away from drug abuse and addiction.
In his tweet, Davido wrote, “Once again my birthday this year, we donating to orphanages and a charity that helps young people stay away from drug abuse & addiction. This year is N300m. Details to follow soon.”
Davido established the Davido Adeleke Foundation (DAF) in 2022 with the goal of supporting vulnerable children across the country. Through the foundation, the singer has collaborated with other charitable organizations to reach his goal of positively impacting the lives of children in need.
This donation comes after a series of philanthropic efforts by the artist.
In July 2023, Davido announced that his foundation had donated over ₦200 million to orphanages nationwide, benefiting 13,818 children. He had also pledged to continue his charitable work in 2024, committing to more donations to orphanages across Nigeria.
Speaking about the foundation’s mission, Davido shared, “I founded the DAF in 2022 with a strong desire and passion to continually assist and create a proper framework for the ongoing charitable works to benefit the good people of Nigeria. Through this foundation, we have raised millions of Naira and dispersed much-needed funds to hundreds of orphanages, significantly improving the lives of countless children.”

The music star’s philanthropic efforts have earned him widespread recognition and respect, both in Nigeria and abroad.
In addition to supporting orphanages, the ₦300 million donation this year will also benefit a charity that addresses drug abuse and addiction among young people.
Further details about the donation will be shared in due course, as Davido continues to use his platform to make a positive impact on his country.
With his 32nd birthday approaching on November 21, fans and supporters are eagerly awaiting more information on the distribution of the funds and the charitable organizations involved.
The singer’s commitment to helping those in need further solidifies his reputation as an artist who is deeply invested in the welfare of his community.
