Barcelona have announced that defender Inigo Martinez will be sidelined for four weeks after suffering a right hamstring injury during the Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid, which ended in a 5-2 victory for Barcelona.
The injury to the 33-year-old had earlier been reported as a factor that could influence the potential transfer of Ronald Araujo.
Centre-back Martinez sustained the problem in Barca’s 5-2 Spanish Super Cup win over Real Madrid in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.
“Tests carried out on Tuesday morning have shown (Martinez) has a right hamstring injury. He will be out for around four weeks,” said Barcelona in a statement.

Ronald Araujo, who replaced him against Madrid, is set to step into the gap amid speculation about a potential move to Italian side Juventus.
Martinez, 33, has become a key figure in defence for Barcelona this season under coach Hansi Flick. He has made 18 appearances for Barcelona this season.
The former Athletic Bilbao defender will miss Barcelona’s final two Champions League group matches against Benfica and Atalanta, among other games.
