US House Passes Bill Banning Transgender From Participating Women Sports

The United States of America has banned transgender men from competing in men sports and transgender women from competing in women Sports.

This position was stated by the Speaker of the Parliament Mike Johnson in a post on X

“Today is a great day in America because House Republicans just passed @RepGregSteube’s Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act ensuring men cannot compete in women’s sports.”

“Men are men, women are women, and men cannot become women. It’s just that simple.” his post read.

The House passed legislation Tuesday that would ban transgender athletes from participating in women’s and girls’ sports at schools and institutions receiving federal funds.

The bill, which would also amend federal law to say that “sex shall be recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth,” was approved largely along party lines in a 218 to 206 vote.

The legislation — which advanced 218-206 — came as an increasing number of states have passed laws banning trans athletes from participating in sports in K-12 schools and colleges that align with their gender identity and amid a wider GOP-led push to enact anti-trans legislation.

President-elect Donald Trump, set to be sworn in Jan. 20, repeatedly pledged on the campaign trail that he would ban transgender youth from participating in school sports that align with their gender identity.

Almost all U.S. House Democrats opposed the measure, but two Texans — U.S. Reps. Henry Cuellar and Vicente Gonzalez — voted for it. North Carolina Democratic Rep. Don Davis voted “present.”

Florida GOP Rep. Greg Steube introduced the legislation, a version of which passed the House in the previous session of Congress but had no chance of success back when Democrats controlled the Senate.

On July 26, 2017, then-President Donald Trump announced through a series of tweets that transgender individuals would no longer be allowed to serve in the U.S. military.

The policy was however overturned by the administration of outgoing President, Joe Biden.

Although it is unclear what the decision of the incoming President, Donald Trump, would be upon ascension of office, there are however talks in quarters that he may re-introduce ban on the transgender in the military.
