The House of Representatives Committee on Finance has proposed tax exemption on the personal income of military personnel in Nigeria.
This proposal was presented by the Committee’s Chairman, Abiodun Faleke, during a clause-by-clause consideration of the four tax bills submitted to Parliament by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024.
Hon. Faleke, while addressing the gathering, emphasized the significance of the proposal, stating, “Mr. Speaker, Honourable colleagues, the Committee has proposed that the personal income of military personnel be exempted from tax due to the critical nature of their assignments.”

The proposal received unanimous endorsement from the members present, reflecting strong support for the measure. If passed, the exemption would provide financial relief to military personnel, acknowledging the risks and sacrifices associated with their service to the nation.
