Maduka Okoye To Move To Udinese On Loan

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is on the verge of signing a one-season loan deal with Italian Seria A side Udinese this summer since he has lost his place at Championship side, Watford.

Before Watford decided to bring him to England last summer, the 23-year-old Nigerian goalkeeper was Sparta Rotterdam’s finest player for two straight seasons.

However, Okoye’s debut campaign at Vicarage Road was terrible to the extent he is said to be a third option at the Championship side.

Things have been so tough for Maduka Okoye at Watford that he made only two appearances for the Hornets throughout the previous season.

Okoye’s future is uncertain at Vicarage Road and it now appears obvious that he will leave Watford to play somewhere else for at least a season.

If he moves to Udinese this summer, Okoye will join several Nigerians who made the switch from Watford to the Italian Serie A side, notably defender William Troost-Ekong, Isaac Success, and Odion Ighalo.

The Pozzo family owns both Watford and Udinese, therefore the two organizations get along well in terms of switching players during any transfer windows.

Okoye would hope that the transaction is successful, wins over Udinese manager Andrea Sottil, and earn more playing time in the forthcoming season.
