Pandemonium erupted in ward 9 in Ikpoba-Okha local government area of Edo State as suspected PDP thugs allegedly opened fire on a boy waiting to cast his vote in the February 25th 2023 presidential election.
It was gathered that the unfortunate incident happened between the hours of 11am as the thugs allegedly attempted to rig election for a senatorial candidate in Edo South contesting under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) but were strongly resisted by the electorates.
Confirmed report in ward 9 revealed that sporadic gun shots were released as the thugs were prevented from snatching election materials including BVAS machine, ballot boxes and thumb printed ballot papers.
Tragedy was said to have occured when the sporadic gunshots sent the voting electorates scampering for safety when suddenly a boy waiting to cast his vote was hit by stray bullets as he instantly dropped dead .
However, the presence of unarmed policemen could not stop the suspected thugs from perpetuating the dastardly evil which led to the death of the young boy in ward 9 as they immediately carted away voting materials and other sensitive materials.

Meanwhile, the police in Edo State Command in a statement made available shortly after the unfortunate incident said it received report of alleged murder of a boy in ward 9 in Ikpoba-Okha local government area of Edo State as election was being disrupted by thugs.
The statement added that the thugs were resisted by the electorates which provoked the thugs to release sporadic gunshots allegedly killing an innocent boy instantly.
It further said that investigations are ongoing into the case to unravel the identities of the killer thugs, local residents are helping in providing useful information on the case .
The statement further revealed that one notorious Ihevba Favour Ikponmwosa who has been declared wanted by the police was the leader of the suspected PDP thugs adding that any useful information that could lead to his arrest should be provided at any nearest police station for a handsome reward as his whereabouts remain largely unknown to anyone.
Meanwhile, the corpse of the young boy was earlier deposited at a local morgue in Ikpoba-Okha local government area of Edo State.
