Rio Ferdinand on Man Utd star

Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has called on winger Antony to improve his display for the club.

Ferdinand said this while sympathizing with the Manchester United fans who booed Antony during their Premier League 1-0 win over Fulham on Saturday.

Recall that an injury-time goal from Bruno Fernandes gave Erik ten Hag’s side all three points against Fulham.

Antony particularly was ineffective on the flank before he was hauled off shortly after the hour mark.

The Brazilian was jeered by his own supporters as he made his way to the dugout.

He is yet to score a goal or register an assist for the Red Devils this season.

“You could smell the frustrations let alone hear it,” Ferdinand said on TNT Sports when speaking about Antony.

“Listen, he’s played 11 games this season with no goals and zero assists, from an attacking player that is not good enough, that is the facts. He has to improve dramatically.”

His side grabbed a 91st-minute winner through captain Bruno Fernandes to snatch a 1-0 victory at Fulham.

It ended a torrid week for United following 3-0 thrashings at home against Manchester City and Newcastle.

But afterwards, legendary defender Ferdinand asked Ten Hag when fans will finally get to see the team playing his style effectively and consistently.

However, the Dutchman was having none of it and fired back defiantly.

Ten Hag said: “With all due respect, didn’t we see it last season?”

Ferdinand replied: “Last season I saw it but this season we haven’t.”

A stumbling Ten Hag then added: “No. Anyone knows why – because we have so many injuries.

“Every time you have to swap, you have to make changes and the routines are not there.
