Ronaldo’s Al Nassr Suffers Heartbreak, Exits Asian Champions League

“Cristiano Ronaldo suffered a disappointing exit from the Asian Champions League quarter-finals after a dramatic penalty shootout loss to Al Ain on Monday.

Despite Ronaldo’s contribution with a goal in extra time, Al Nassr succumbed to a 3-1 defeat in the shootout, with the aggregate score tied at 4-4. The match, played in Riyadh, saw the 39-year-old Portuguese star as the lone scorer for Al Nassr in the shootout, as they bowed out of the competition.

Ronaldo endured a frustrating night, missing a golden opportunity in normal time, failing to convert from close range with an open goal. Nevertheless, he managed to level the tie with a composed penalty in the 118th minute, bringing the score to 4-3 in favor of the hosts.

However, Al Nassr’s hopes were dashed as they faltered in the penalty shootout, with three failed attempts sealing their fate and sending Al Ain into the semi-finals.

Among the disappointments for Al Nassr was Brazilian international defender Alex Telles, formerly of Manchester United, who also faltered during the shootout.

In other quarter-final action, Ulsan and Jeonbuk faced off in an all-Korean clash, while Saudi sides Al Ittihad and Al Hilal battled it out, with Al Hilal leading 2-0 from the first leg.

Meanwhile, Harry Kewell’s Yokohama F-Marinos hosted Chinese side Shandong Taishan on Wednesday, holding a 2-1 advantage from the first leg.”
