NAF Eliminates Terrorist Kingpin Halilu Subudu, 38 Fighters In Zamfara

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said its special forces have killed wanted terrorists kingpin Halilu Subudu and 38 fighters in Zamfara State. Halilu Subudu, a notorious terrorist allegedly responsible for the killing of a drone pilot, an operative of the Department of State Services, DSS, about two months ago in Zamfara State, North West Nigeria has been eliminated.

A reliable source told NaijaTimesUSA “In an aggressive clearance operation yesterday, military troops eliminated the notorious Halilu Sububu and several other bandits in Zamfara last night.”  Troops also recovered deadly firearms and ammunition, together with motorcycles from the terrorists,” the source noted.”

This news was also reported by PRNigeria, a reliable defense intelligence source on Friday morning, quoting that Sububu was killed in an operation on Thursday by the military in Zamfara State where he had been operating.

A statement by NAF’s Deputy Director, Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Kabiru Ali disclosed that three personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Special Forces, led the operation that killed the notorious bandit, “Halilu Sububu and over 38 terrorists” during an engagement near Mayanchi on 12 September 2024.

Group Captain Ali said the operation was part of an ongoing effort by NAF and ground forces to exploit intelligence and secure the area following contact with hostile elements.

He said, “NAF Special Forces of Operation HADARIN DAJI in company of other ground troops initiated a follow-up exploitation mission after troops encountered terrorists in the vicinity of Mayanchi.

“During the mission, it was confirmed that 38 terrorists had been neutralised, with four bodies retrieved for verification,” he said.

He said the troops also recovered a significant cache of weapons including two Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) tubes, one RPG bomb, three PKT machine guns, five AK-47 rifles, 29 magazines and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition of varying calibers.

“This operation underscores the effectiveness and professionalism of the NAF Special Forces in leading critical missions in conjunction with other services aimed at neutralising threats and maintaining national security,” he added.
