The Ohanaeze Ndigbo socio-cultural organization has faulted Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s remark over holiday tokens for lawmakers.
Ohanaeze said Akpabio’s remark cast doubts on the integrity of senators and is an attempt to tarnish their image.
The organization charged the Senate to ask Nigerians for forgiveness and clarify the remark.
A statement by the body’s factional Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said: “The recent statement made by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, regarding the distribution of holiday tokens to all 109 senators has sparked outrage among the Nigerian public.
“This revelation comes at a time when Nigerians are already grappling with significant hardships, particularly in the wake of fuel subsidy removal.
