The Lagos State government has apprehended a birthday celebrant and several individuals for blocking roads during a party, causing significant traffic disruptions in the Ikoyi area.
The arrests were made by officials of the Lagos State Environmental Agency Corps (KAI) on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
Tokunbo Wahab, the state’s Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, announced the arrests in a post shared on his verified X handle.
He stated, “On Saturday, 19th October 2024, the Lagos State Government arrested individuals, including the celebrant, event planner, musician, and others, for obstructing traffic and creating an environmental nuisance.”
The individuals arrested include Ogundare Olubunmi, the birthday celebrant; Omolara Ajetumobi, the event planner; Ayodele Busuyi, the musician; Owoeye Adedayo, the sound engineer; and Akinola Akinkunmi, a vendor.
Wahab accused them of blocking Raymond Njoku Road in Southwest Ikoyi during the celebration.

The Commissioner emphasized that the suspects would face trial in accordance with state laws. “The Lagos State Government reiterates that no one is above the law and will not be permitted to disregard State regulations,” he added.
In addition to the Ikoyi arrests, Wahab reported that eight miscreants were detained in Lekki, 16 others in Oshodi, and 17 individuals apprehended at Ile-Epo, Abule Egba, and Ikeja Under Bridge by operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps.
This enforcement action is part of the Lagos State Government’s ongoing efforts to address environmental pollution and other infractions, as highlighted by the Lagos Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA).
