This was after a trending video on X showed that social media personality Okuneye Idris, popularly known as Bobrisky, was removed from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight on Thursday night.
Social commentator Isaac Fayose, the brother of former Ekiti State Governor, shared a photo of himself and Bobrisky as they boarded the same flight to London.
“Look who’s on the same flight with me to London, @Bobrisky222,” Fayose posted on his Instagram handle.
However, in a viral video, Bobrisky was later seen being removed from the flight by airport officials.
After the forceful removal, the popular cross-dresser took to Instagram to alert followers about the development, alleging that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was responsible for his detention.
He wrote, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”
On October 22, Bobrisky was intercepted at the Sème border while allegedly attempting to flee the country.
The controversy surrounding him began in April 2024, when he received a six-month prison sentence from the Federal High Court in Lagos for naira abuse. Although officially incarcerated at Kirikiri Prison, reports later claimed he spent only three weeks there before being discreetly moved to a private location.
This sparked speculation of bribery, with accusations of a ₦15 million payment made to officials for his transfer.
The situation escalated in late September 2024, when social media influencer VeryDarkMan released an audio recording allegedly involving Bobrisky.
In the leaked recording, Bobrisky purportedly claimed that music artist Falz and his father, human rights lawyer Femi Falana, approached him during his imprisonment, seeking ₦10 million for a presidential pardon.
In response, Falana and Falz issued a cease-and-desist letter on October 16, demanding a retraction and public apology for what they described as defamatory statements.
Bobrisky denied making these claims, asserting he was not responsible for the leaked content and urging the Falanas to hold VeryDarkMan accountable.
After his re-arrest, Bobrisky will face interrogation on allegations of bribery and corruption in Abuja. An official from the EFCC confirmed that he would be flown to Abuja on Friday.
Sources indicated that Bobrisky’s arrest stemmed from his failure to honor several invitations from the commission following his allegations against them.

He had previously stated, in a voice note shared by VeryDarkMan, that he bribed EFCC officers with ₦15 million to drop money laundering charges against him.
Despite the EFCC denying the allegations, they established a committee to investigate the claims. At a press briefing, the Director of Public Affairs, Wilson Uwajaren, hinted that Bobrisky could face additional charges if the allegations against the EFCC were proven false.
Uwajaren stated, “One could be charged for giving false information to the EFCC, let alone making false allegations against the commission.”
A top source in the commission explained on Friday that Bobrisky was detained to substantiate his claims against the EFCC.
The source said, “We have arrested him in Lagos today and will be flown to Abuja today. He accused us of bribery and corruption; we invited him severally, but he did not show up. He who alleges must be ready to prove.
Those allegations are too weighty to allow slide. Also, remember that he has also refused to show up at the National Assembly on the matter. We are left with no other choice than to pick him up so that he can substantiate his claims. And that is what we have done.”
When contacted Friday morning, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed Bobrisky’s arrest, stating, “Bobrisky is on his way to Abuja as we speak.”
