A deadly explosion has gone off on Monday at an Islamiyyah school located in the Kuchibuyi Community, Kubwa, Abuja, killing one student and injuring four other.
Our correspondent gathered that emergency and security personnel, including the police bomb disposal squad, have arrived at the explosion scene while the injured victims have been rushed to hospital.
The police are yet to comment on the incident, so details of the explosion remain sketchy. Multiple calls to the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory’s Command of the Nigeria Police, Josephine Adeh, did not connect.

It was gathered that the deceased student, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, bore a substance suspected to be an improvised explosive device (IED) when it detonated, causing chaos within the school premises.
The explosion injured other students and caused widespread panic at the scene.
The source also disclosed that the students involved were recently admitted to the school, having resumed on January 3, 2025.
However, the police have yet to issue a statement on the incident, leaving details of the explosion unclear.
