The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed a significant boost in the prize money for the 2024 edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League, increasing the total prize fund by 52% to US$ 2,350,000.
The announcement, made on Thursday via CAF’s official website, highlights the organization’s ongoing commitment to elevating women’s football across the continent.
The competition, which was introduced in 2021 under the leadership of CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, has seen a steady increase in its prize money.
In 2022, CAF introduced cash prizes for the first time after the inaugural edition, where no prize money was awarded.
Last year, each team received $100,000, with the eventual champions claiming $400,000. The new prize fund structure, which takes effect this year, guarantees each participating team at least $150,000.

This year’s increase means that the eventual champions will receive $600,000, a substantial rise from the previous edition. The runners-up will earn $400,000, and the team finishing third will take home $350,000, with the fourth-place finishers receiving $300,000. Teams finishing third and fourth in their group will also be guaranteed a minimum of $150,000 each.

The CAF Women’s Champions League 2024 will take place in Morocco from November 9 to November 23, hosted in the cities of El Jadida and Casablanca. This year’s competition sees Edo Queens from Nigeria making their debut in the prestigious tournament, alongside seven other top African women’s football clubs.
