Davido’s dad donates N1bn to C&S church in honour of his late mother

Adedeji Adeleke, a business tycoon and father of music star, David Adeleke, has donated N1 billion to the Cherubim and Seraphim Church’s Centenary Endowment Fund in honour of his late mother, Madam Esther Adeleke.

A viral video showed the business tycoon announcing the N1 billion donation. The entire church erupted in wild jubilation when the announcement was made.

At a thanksgiving service which held at the headquarters of the C&S Church in Lagos, on Sunday. A statement on the website of the Osun state government on Sunday, August 18, confirmed that Adeleke donated the huge sum in memory of his mother.

Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, in a short address, presented the donation to the Centenary Endowment Fund on behalf of his late mother, saying: “On behalf of our late mother, senior mother in Israel, late Mrs Esther Adeleke, we want to contribute to the endowment fund, Centenary Endowment Fund. We are contributing the sum of N1 billion.”

During her lifetime, she held the esteemed title of Senior Mother-in-Israel within the church, a position that her daughter, Modupe Adeleke-Sanni, now fills.

The service was attended by notable figures like the Ogun State Governor,  the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Osun state deputy governor, Kola Adewusi and more. Governor Dapo Abidoun, who was also among the dignitaries at the occasion, smiled as he commended head of the Adeleke dynasty for the gesture.

Following the staggering donation announcement by Davido’s father, several X (formerly known as Twitter) users shared their thoughts, Deputy Baba Aladura Harold Demuren commended the Adeleke family for the donation.

“The Adeleke family and their members are rare gems. They serve the lord and humanity in humility and consistency,” said Demuren an Aeronautical Engineer, who serve as Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

“This just happened a few minutes ago at the Cherubim and Seraph Church Surulere! Omo money na water,” a shocked X user commented.

Another X user wrote, “Even the camera shake, I open mouth. I don watch this video more than thrice. Omo.”
