- How He Was Forced To Do Second Term
But for his trusted ally’s insistence, Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari did not want to go for the concluding term in his 2 term, 8 years tenure.
According to very reliable Villa sources, Buhari had told his associates that he would prefer to return home and take care of his problematic health after his first term.
” The man was not enjoying the best of health. And he was getting global bad publicity over his inability to solve the country’s problems since he assumed office in 2015, he got overwhelmed by the country’s problems. On top of this, he was always going in and out of the hospital and the fact that the media was always writing about him as a medical tourist did not really go down well with him.

” He was not enjoying those reports, and he made up his mind to quit after the first term but his chief of staff, Abba Kyari, who more or less was like the de-facto President would not take any of that”
Kyari, who is now late, in company with another trusted ally of the President, Funtua, succeeded in persuading the President to go for a second term and he got reelected in 2019.
However, fate played a cruel one on the president, when Kyari, after a trip to Germany, was diagnosed of Covid 19 but did not recover from the accompanying illness.
” The effect of the death of the President’s Chief of staff was so crushing on him, so much that it became obvious to everyone around him that he was just forcing himself to move on” reported a source.
To add to his frustration, Funtua, who was almost like the Kyari alternative for him died almost the same time Kyari died and according to a source, ”the president almost lost the remaining strength left in him to carry on with the news of the second death of Issa Funtua. But those around him rallied round to assure him that all shall be well.
” The truth is that, the man has not been able to overcome the effect of those sudden and shocking deaths.
” That was why he mentioned during a live interview on Television after his reelection that he couldn’t wait to return to his farm” mentioned our source.
On his 79th birthday, the President said he couldn’t wait to return to his farm. “I look forward to 2023 when I finish my tenure,” Buhari said, adding: “to go home to take charge of my farm.”
