FG Meets With NLC, TUC Leaders Over Petrol Price HikeĀ 

Leaders of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and their Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, counterpart are currently meeting with the Federal Government.

According to sources, the meeting is taking place at the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume.

At the meeting are Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, NSA; Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Labour Minister; Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

Others are Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Information Minister; Heineken Lokpobiri, Petroleum Minister, State; Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), and representatives of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Limited.

Leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, are currently in a crucial meeting with representatives of the Federal Government.

According to sources, the meeting is taking place at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume.

Others in attendance include Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information; Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources; Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), and representatives of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Limited.

The discussions are expected to center around the recent labor disputes following the removal of fuel subsidies and the subsequent economic impact on Nigerian workers.

The NLC and TUC have been vocal in their demands for improved wages and better working conditions, with recent protests escalating tensions between the unions and the government.

While no official statements have been released, insiders hint at the possibility of negotiating a temporary resolution to avert further industrial action.

ā€œThe presence of key government officials, including the National Security Adviser and Ministers from critical sectors, signals the seriousness with which the Federal Government is approaching this meeting,ā€ an anonymous source said.

NLC and TUC leaders are reportedly pushing for immediate government action to ease the hardships faced by Nigerian workers, with one of their primary demands being the reinstatement of fuel subsidies or alternative measures to mitigate the skyrocketing costs of living.

Negotiations are still ongoing, and both sides are expected to address the press following the conclusion of the meeting.
