First Lady reiterates stiffer penalties for terrorists, kidnappers

First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reiterated her call for stiffer punishment against terrorists and bandits who are kidnapping Nigerians and demanding ransoms from their families.

Sen Tinubu said that the lawmakers should synergise to enact laws that will discourage kidnappers in the country.

President Bola Tinubu’s wife made the call while receiving the three Senators representing the senatorial districts of Lagos State in her office in Abuja.

We should look into the laws we would bring up. On the issue of kidnapping, it is like we are in a war, a war against kidnapping and kidnappers,” Sen Tinubu said.

She spoke about the effort of her husband to leave the country better than he met it, saying it demands sacrifice and courage.

“The administration of President Tinubu is resolute to leave a legacy for generations yet unborn. This takes a lot of sacrifice and courage,” she said.

The three senators who visited the First Lady were Adetokunbo Abiru, Oluranti Adebule and Sikiru Osinowo.

It was recalls that Sen Tinubu, during the International Women’s Day 2024 called for capital punishment against kidnappers following the abduction of schoolchildren in Kaduna.

She made this known through her media aide Busola Kukoyi, during a meeting with the national women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House, Abuja.

They are cowards. Our hearts bleed. I call on the state governments that once we take hold of them, they deserve capital punishment. Why can’t they take men of their size, why are they touching women and children,” she said.

What they are doing is that they are trying to kill our future, we all know that when parents are old, we rely on our children, we see them as our investments that have not gone to waste especially when they are successful.”
