INTERPOL Declares 14 Nigerians Wanted for Human, Drugs Trafficking, Global Crimes

INTERPOL has issued Red Notices for 14 Nigerian nationals who are wanted in connection with a range of serious crimes, including human trafficking, drug smuggling, and organized fraud.

The individuals are accused of participating in criminal activities that span multiple continents, demonstrating the international scope of the offenses linked to Nigerian suspects.

The Nigerian nationals named in the notices are wanted by authorities in various countries, and the charges against them are diverse.

Among those listed is Felix Omoregie, who is wanted by Belgian authorities for allegedly leading a criminal organization involved in the exploitation of minors for prostitution. INTERPOL’s Red Notice for Omoregie states, “Family name: Omoregie, Forename: Felix, Gender: Male, Date of birth: 22/10/1977 (47 years old), Nationality: Nigeria,” and details charges of sexual exploitation, human trafficking, and leading a criminal organization.

Another individual, Jessica Edosomwan, is sought by French authorities for her role in trafficking multiple victims in an organized operation, while also concealing the proceeds of crime.

Similarly, Uche Egbue is wanted in Argentina for drug trafficking, and Jude Uzoma is pursued by Brazilian authorities for the same offense.

Chinedu Ezeunara is also wanted by Uruguayan authorities on drug trafficking charges.

Other individuals facing serious allegations include Benedict Okoro, who is wanted in Nicaragua for organized crime, and Ikechukwu Obidiozor, Akachi Vitus, and Alachi Stanley, who are being pursued by Angolan authorities for alleged kidnapping, robbery, and illegal possession of firearms.

Mary Eze is wanted in Denmark for human trafficking, while Bouhari Salif is sought in China for drug smuggling.

Additionally, Timloh Nkem is wanted in Canada for sexual assault and failure to comply with recognizance conditions.

Austine Costa and Okromi Festus are wanted in India for criminal conspiracy, forgery, and possession of forged documents.

INTERPOL clarified that these Red Notices are not arrest warrants but serve as requests to law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest individuals pending extradition or other legal actions.

“A Red Notice is a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action. A Red Notice is not an international arrest warrant,” INTERPOL explained in a statement.

The organization further emphasized that these notices are issued by the requesting member country or international tribunal, and each member country applies its own laws in determining whether to arrest a person.

“The individuals are wanted by the requesting member country or international tribunal. Member countries apply their laws in deciding whether to arrest a person.”

It urged members of the public to report to their local police authorities should they have information about the wanted persons.

Security experts have pointed out that these cases highlight the need for stronger international cooperation in combating transnational crime networks.

Dr. Adebayo Onuoha, a security analyst, noted,“This is a wake-up call for governments to strengthen legal frameworks and international cooperation. We must address the socio-economic factors driving citizens into these networks.”

INTERPOL has urged the public to assist by reporting any information regarding the suspects to local authorities.
