Tragedy struck in Kaduna State on Thursday as Sarkin Yakin Zazzau, Rilwan Pate, collapsed and passed away while attending an event alongside the Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.
According to an eyewitness, Pate, who was also a Council Member of the Emirate and the Councillor responsible for Health-Related Matters, suddenly slumped during the occasion.
He was rushed to Gambo Sawaba General Hospital in Kofar Gayan Zaria, where he was confirmed dead.
The Zazzau Emirate Council confirmed the incident through a statement issued by the Media and Publicity Officer, Abdullahi Kwarbai, who expressed great sadness over Pate’s sudden death.

“It is with great sadness that the Zazzau Emirate Council announces the passing of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau Alhaji Rilwanu Yahaya Pate, a Council Member of the Emirate,” the statement read.
Emir Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli also expressed his condolences, describing Pate’s death as “the will of Allah,” and noting that “Death is inevitable and can come whenever Allah destined.”
He described the late Sarkin Yakin Zazzau as a hardworking, dedicated, and very religious man, whose loss would be difficult to replace.
In accordance with Islamic rites, the remains of the late Sarkin Yakin Zazzau were laid to rest at Rimin Dodo later on Thursday evening.
