The FIFPro Men’s World 11 has been unveiled, showcasing a star-studded lineup of football’s best talents from around the globe. The team, selected by players worldwide, celebrates individuals who delivered exceptional performances over the past year.
Lionel Messi is notably absent from the FIFPro World 11 for the first time in nearly 20 years.
This marks the first edition since 2006 without Messi, who holds the record with 17 selections. He has been replaced by Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé, and Vinícius Jr in the front row. Six players from Champions League winners Real Madrid and four from Manchester City made it into this year’s team.
Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson anchors the defense. He is joined by Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rüdiger, and Virgil van Dijk, all of whom are recognized for their consistency and leadership in crucial matches.
In midfield, Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, Toni Kroos, and Jude Bellingham form a formidable quartet. De Bruyne and Rodri were key in Manchester City’s title success last season, while Kroos and Bellingham excelled for Real Madrid in both domestic and European competitions.
Jude Bellingham topped the men’s voting, receiving 11,176 selections from his peers. Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk is the only player outside of Real Madrid and Manchester City to be included in the men’s team.
Meanwhile, English players dominated the 2024 Women’s World 11 with five selections: Lucy Bronze, Mary Earps, Alex Greenwood, Lauren James, and Keira Walsh.
Bronze’s seventh selection ties her with Wendie Renard for the women’s appearance record. Zambian player Barbra Banda also made history as the first African player included in the Women’s World 11.
