Mike Lynch’s Body Found, 18-Year-Old Daughter Still Missing

Tech mogul Mike Lynch’s 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, is still missing after five bodies were discovered, including that of Mike Lynch.

Five bodies have been found and now identified in the search for those missing after a yacht sank off the Sicily coast, including that of tech tycoon Mike Lynch.

The bodies, including those of British tech tycoon Mike Lynch, Jonathan Bloomer, his wife Judith Bloomer, lawyer Christopher Morvillo, and his wife Neda Morvillo, have been identified by the Italian coastguard.

Mr. Lynch’s 18-year-old daughter, Hannah Lynch, remains unaccounted for.

On Wednesday, Italian authorities initially believed that both Mr. Lynch and his daughter Hannah were among the bodies found.

However, this morning, a source close to the rescue operation suggested that Hannah may not yet have been located inside the wreckage of the Bayesian.

A spokesman for the Italian Coastguard stated that the sixth and final person yet to be found was a woman, according to a report by the Telegraph.

The Bayesian, a 56-metre (184-foot) British-flagged yacht, went down in a storm early on Monday as it was moored about a kilometre (a half-mile) offshore. Civil protection officials believe the ship was struck by a tornado over the water, known as a waterspout, causing it to sink quickly.

Fifteen people escaped in a lifeboat and were rescued by a nearby sailboat.

The yacht remains lying sideways on the seabed, 50 metres (164 feet) underwater, a depth that required special precautions and complicated the recovery work. Divers are only able to stay in the vessel for 8-10 minutes before having to resurface.

While the search for the remaining unaccounted-for person continues, tributes are pouring in for British tech tycoon Mike Lynch from prominent figures in the business and media world.

Lynch, 59, was one of the United Kingdom’s best-known tech entrepreneurs and had invited friends to join him on the yacht to celebrate his recent acquittal in a fraud trial in the United States.

Former BP chief executive Lord John Browne said the world had “lost a human being of great ability” and Mr. Lynch should be “remembered as the person who catalyzed a breed of deep tech entrepreneurs in the UK.”

David Yelland, a PR adviser to Mike Lynch and former editor of The Sun, expressed his thoughts on X, stating that “we have lost a man who was failed in life by his country and his peers when he needed them most – as he looked for help in the unjust US demand that he be extradited – and he has then suffered the most unfair and brutal of fates.”

Yelland added, “I was in touch with Mike just before he sailed. He wasn’t a mere dreamer of dreams, he was a creator of dreams not just for himself but for all those that knew him, worked with him, or invested with him.”

Meanwhile, the boss of the boat manufacturing firm suggested human error might be behind the sinking, stating, “The ship sank because it took on water. From where? Investigators will have to say,” during an interview with television news program TG1.

Prosecutors have opened an investigation into the sinking, and witnesses, including the vessel’s captain, have begun to be questioned.
