By becoming the first EP to top the Spotify Nigeria weekly albums list, the extended play “Blessed” by the late rapper and artist Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, also known by the stage name Mohbad, has set a new record.
This week’s number-one album was the EP, which was achieved after the vocalist of “Imole” passed away.
Recall that Mohbad died in a disputed manner on September 12, 2023. His songs and albums have taken over Nigerian streaming networks since his tragic death.
He has songs that are in the top 10 on Apple Music Nigeria, such as “Peace,” “Feel Good,” “Ask About Me,” and “Beast and Peace.”
The Spotify Nigeria singles chart was won by “Ask About Me,” which he also produced.
His EP, “Blessed,” made its debut in the UK’s top 20 Apple music rankings.
Locals in Abuja, meanwhile, gathered at the Unity Fountain on Friday for a candlelight march in memory of the late musician Mohbad.
Ilerioluwa Aloba, a native of Lagos, passed away last week in circumstances that many have deemed dubious.
Nigerians have not stopped talking about Mohbad’s death, and many have taken to the streets to seek justice.
