NAFDAC Warns Public Against Christ Mercy Land’s Miracle Water and Soap

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a warning to the public about the activities of Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries in Effurun, Delta State.

The agency accused the religious organization of selling unregistered miracle water and soap products, deceiving the public by claiming these items were NAFDAC registered.

The investigation was triggered by complaints from concerned citizens regarding Senior Prophet Jeremiah Omoto of Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries, located at Km 5, Effurun, Sapele Road.

The ministry had been advertising and selling miracle water and soap with claims of healing and performing miracles.

NAFDAC stated that the ministry falsely used its name to legitimize these products. “Apart from claiming that the women would carry twins if they used the soap, he openly told his congregation that the soap is NAFDAC registered,” the agency revealed in a statement.

NAFDAC listed the products sold by the ministry, including “Miracle & Healing Water, River Jordan Water, The Miracle Water from The Pool of Bethsaida, A new beginning Mount Camel Miracle Water, Water of Life, and Father Smelled Perfume.”

Following these revelations, NAFDAC’s Delta State Coordinator conducted an undercover operation and purchased the Miracle Water for 3000 naira to gather evidence, despite the ministry denying its involvement.

The investigation continued on August 27, 2024, when a team from NAFDAC and the Federal Task Force on Counterfeit and Fake Drugs visited the ministry for further inquiry. However, the ministry’s officials did not cooperate.

“Letters of invitation were issued to the officials to report on August 28, but it was not honoured,” said NAFDAC.

Instead, the ministry submitted legal documents claiming they had a production agreement with Globod Table Water, Delta State, without informing NAFDAC, an action which the agency deemed illegal.

In response, NAFDAC sealed Globod Table Water factory, accusing it of facilitating the production and sale of unregistered miracle water under false pretenses.

“NAFDAC Investigation and Enforcement has sealed Globod Table Water factory for aiding and abetting the production, sale, and advertisement of unregistered and unwholesome Miracle Water under the pretext of Fake NAFDAC Registration Number,” the agency stated.

Furthermore, the agency stressed that Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries failed to cooperate with its investigation and warned the public against purchasing any of these products.

“NAFDAC wishes to inform the public that none of these products being advertised and sold are registered with NAFDAC,” Adeyeye cautioned, adding that the agency is committed to scientific validation before registering any products.

She concluded by assuring the public of NAFDAC’s determination to protect their health, stating, “I want to assure Nigerians of our resolve to continue safeguarding the health of the citizens.”
