NFF: Waldrum has apologized for his comments – Eguavoen

Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, has apologised for his recent comments against the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), according to technical director, Augustine Eguavoen.

Waldrum and the NFF recently clashed over the American comments on Super Falcons team list and preparations for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The gaffer also raised questions over the money allocated by FIFA for the competition.

The 66-year-old has kept his post despite the discord between him and the NFF.

Eguavoen claimed Waldrum has realized his mistakes and they have resolved the issue.

“I am not comfortable with what I’ve been reading. I spoke with him. He apologized, he said he didn’t mean it that way,” he told reporters.

“He felt if he speaks with a couple of people things will change, but it is not like that here, Nigeria is different, and Africa is different.”

Meanwhile, Eguavoen stated that the 63-year-old remains in charge of the three-time African champions despite the expiration of his contract.

“At the moment he is in charge, we are discussing in-house and we are giving him conditions as well,” Eguavoen told reporters at the end of FIFA Instructor’s Course held in Abuja.

“We are flexible, so it could be suitable for both sides and once we reach a common ground, why not?

“We would invite him and once we agree and we arrive at a common ground, we would be flexible and we also want him to be flexible with us.”

“Contract or no contract, he is a human being and he is still the coach of the national team as it is.”
