The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) announced on Friday the opening of applications for 2024/2025 recruitment of officers into various positions in its Superintendent, Inspector, and Customs Assistant cadres.
This follows a recent approval granted to the NCS to recruit 3,927 officers in 2025, aimed at boosting trade facilitation and supporting the nation’s economic recovery.
The recruitment decision was highlighted during the NCS’s 61st quarterly board meeting, held on Wednesday, December 18, at the Customs House in Maitama, Abuja.
The meeting emphasized the need for more personnel to enhance the agency’s operational capacity.
As part of the announcement, the NCS warned Nigerians to remain cautious of scammers who may seek to exploit the recruitment process.
The Service made it clear that all aspects of the recruitment process are completely free of charge.

“Our recruitment process is completely FREE and FAIR. We DO NOT charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process. If anyone demands payment, they are scammers,” the NCS stated.
Interested applicants are directed to submit their applications through the official recruitment portal, which will be accessible starting at 12pm on December 27, 2024. The portal will remain open until January 2, 2025.
The NCS stressed that the recruitment process will be merit-based and transparent. “Applicants are advised to complete their submissions on time as the portal will close automatically on the stated deadline,” the statement read.
Additionally, the NCS encouraged applicants to check its official website and verified social media handles for updates and further information.
Eligibility Requirements
The NCS outlined several basic eligibility criteria for applicants:
- Must be a Nigerian citizen by birth.
- Must possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN).
- Must not have any criminal record or be under investigation.
- Applicants must have completed their primary education and obtained a First School Leaving Certificate.
- Applicants must not be less than 1.7 meters tall for males and 1.64 meters for females
- Medical fitness is required, and applicants mast not be physically or mentally challenged.
- Applicants must not be members of any secret security. cult. or drug addicts.
The academic qualifications for each cadre vary:
- Superintendent Cadre: Applicants must have a University degree or HND (Higher National Diploma) from a recognized institution, along with a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate or exemption certificate.
- Inspectorate Cadre: Applicants must have a National Diploma (ND) or Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) from an approved institution.
- Customs Assistant Cadre: Applicants are required to have at least an O’Level certificate (WAEC or NECO).
The NCS also emphasized that all applicants must be physically and mentally fit, and will be required to provide evidence of medical fitness from a recognized government hospital.
