No plan to suspend Saraki – PDP

Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has dismissed rumored plan to suspend the former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki by the State Working Committee, SWC, of the party.

A communique issued after the SWC meeting in Ilorin, the state capital, urged party members and supporters to be calm and discountenance the rumoured suspension of the former two term governor of the state.

“We urge our party members and supporters to be calm and discountenance the purported rumoured suspension of our leader, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, by the State Working Committee members as mischievously circulated by some people aimed at causing disharmony in the party,” the communique signed by the state party Chairman, Babatunde Mohammed and the state Secretary, Abdulrazaq Lawal said.

It explained that the enlarged meeting called on June 1, 2023, to review the outcome of the 2023 general elections, “was misconstrued or misrepresented by some disgruntled elements.”

Meanwhile, Another source told the newspaper: “The party is meeting; the National Working Committee (NWC) has met, the Board of Trustees (BoT) has met. A special committee called the Select committee met penultimate week. It is expected that as these segmented organs have met, the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting would be called where decision on the G-5 governors and other problems bedeviling the party will be taken. But I don’t know when,” the source emphasised.

National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Debo Ologunagba, said the issue of bringing Saraki or not was in the realm of speculations, noting that the party could not make any comments on that. He said the party as an organization was not aware of any such plan.
