NSCDC: Launches Safe Schools Response Squad in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has officially launched the Safe School Response Squad in the State under the Safe School Initiative program of the Commandant-General, Dr Abubakar Ahmed Audi, to revamp, restructure, rejig, rejuvenate and reposition the Corps in line with international best practices.

The State NSCDC, Commandant Sani Mustapha, averred that the maiden launch of the squad was a sequel to the directives and marching order issued by Audi in the last quarterly meeting held at the National Headquarters, Abuja, recently.

He reiterated his resolve to comply in totality with the order given by the Commandant-General of the Corps. To this end, Mustapha has branded an official vehicle for the Safe Schools Response Squad and provided all needed support.

He also said the state government had been engaged in fruitful discussions on the modalities to provide a centre for the Corps as an operational base in Zamfara State.

Meanwhile,The newly appointed Director of Public Relations (DPR), for NSCDC, Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC) Afolabi Zaid Babawale, assumes office today, monday 14, August, after a successful handing over by his predecessor, Commandant Olusola Odumosu who was recently redeployed to head the FCT Command of the Corps, Abuja.

CSC Babawale joined the Corps in 2005 and served in the Public Relations Unit of Osun State Command since 2008 until hardwork singled him out as the substantive Osun State PRO from 2010 to 2020.

He also held similar position as the Corps’ image maker in Kwara State command where he was honoured for his excellent performance in promoting the image of the Corps in Kwara State by the then State Commandant.

He served as divisional officer (DO) in Dagbolu, Afon and Gwanara respectively in Kwara North Local Government Area of Kwara State, where he unprecedentedly conducted and supervised the NSCDC training of over 800 hunters and local vigilantes succesfully.

Babawale is an alumnus of the University of Lagos, where he studied Sociology. He is an experienced communicator, exxellent broadcaster and seasoned image manager who had produced and presented programmes in various media houses such as NTA, LTV, GALAXY TV, BCOS, OSBC among others.
