An officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has been allegedly shot and wounded by a unidentified person dressed in a police uniform during an enforcement operation in Lagos.
According to ChannelsTV, the incident occurred while men of the FRSC were on an enforcement drive to implement the nationwide launch of the FRSC operation to combat the menace of fake number plates under the Lagos Sector Command.
Meanwhile, the Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Hamzat, who was overseeing the operation, declined to provide details on the shooting.
He urged journalists to remain patient while investigations unfold.

Authorities have yet to confirm whether the assailant is a member of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and police officials in Lagos have not issued any statements regarding the incident.
Following the shooting, the Lagos State FRSC has suspended the enforcement operation on fake number plates.
Commander Hamzat, while addressing journalists on Thursday, said the suspension was necessary in light of the unfortunate event.
