Ronaldo reacts to latest claims about Al-Nassr

Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has reacted to claims that the club has agreed a deal to sign Otavio from FC Porto.

The Saudi Pro League club brought in Cristiano Ronaldo on a free transfer in December.

Ronaldo has remained the highest paid sportman in history after the move, earning €200 million a year.

The SPL giants recently announced the arrival of Portuguese tactician Luis Castro as their new manager.

They have brought Marcelo Brozovic from Inter Milan for €18 million.

Reports in Europe recently claimed that Al-Aalami are finalising the move to sign Otavio, 28, from Porto.

Portugal sports outfit A Bola reported that Ronaldo had directly called the player to tell him to join Al Nassr

However, Ronaldo has quashed rumours that Otavio is set to join him at Mrsool Park.

“It’s totally a lie,” Cristiano Ronaldo told reporters, according to Portuguese outlet Desporto Ao Minuto. “You break the news as bait.

“There’s nothing finalised. They have already said that 10 or 15 players were coming to Al-Nassr, but nothing was seen.

“We know we’re going to strengthen, but we don’t have any specific players.”

Meanwhile, Ronaldo reportedly called his 28-year-old compatriot to try and convince him to join him at Al-Nassr. However, while on the sidelines during Al-Nassr’s 5-1 friendly defeat of Farense on Friday, Ronaldo rubbished the claims.

“Many players are spoken about, I do not speak because I am not an agent. Otavio is spoken about, like 10 or 15 others who have spoken, there is still no news. Obviously we are going to strengthen the team, but there are no names yet.”

When asked if his club has closed a deal for Otavio, Ronaldo said: “Totally a lie. They [the media] release the news, but nothing has been finalized. We know that we are going to reinforce, that is clear, but still nothing concrete.”
