Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly urged the club to sign Victor Osimhen, a long-term Chelsea transfer target, during the upcoming January transfer window.
According to Sky Sports Germany, Amorim is dissatisfied with his current attacking options and sees Osimhen as the ideal solution to United’s struggles in front of goal.
Since joining Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon, Amorim has faced challenges in turning around the club’s fortunes.
Despite a morale-boosting win over Manchester City, recent setbacks – including a Carabao Cup exit to Tottenham and a 3-0 loss to Bournemouth – have left United sitting in 13th place in the Premier League.
Amorim, frustrated with the underperformance of forwards Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee, has identified Osimhen as a priority signing.
Højlund has yet to live up to his £72m price tag, while Zirkzee has struggled in his first Premier League season.

Victor Osimhen, 25, has been one of Europe’s most prolific strikers, scoring 76 goals in 133 appearances for Napoli. However, his relationship with Napoli deteriorated under Antonio Conte, leading to his loan move to Galatasaray last summer.
Despite this, Napoli can recall Osimhen in January and are reportedly open to selling him for €75 million (£62 million).
Chelsea had previously come close to signing the Nigerian striker on transfer deadline day but failed to agree on personal terms. The Blues remain interested, and Osimhen’s availability in January could reignite their pursuit.
Manchester United, however, may face difficulties meeting Napoli’s valuation, given their need to strengthen other positions, including midfield and left-back.
United are also prepared to offload players such as Marcus Rashford, who has fallen out of favor under Amorim, to fund their transfer activities.
With Chelsea monitoring the situation closely, a January bidding war could ensue for Osimhen, a player who has the potential to transform either team’s attack.
As January approaches, both Chelsea and Manchester United fans will eagerly await updates on whether the Nigerian international’s next destination will be Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford.
