“He has played a number of positions in his short career – 7, 11, 8 & 10 – and most recently with ourselves in a couple of bounce games as a 6, and he was fantastic there too!
“He’s a very versatile footballer who has not long turned 19 and I genuinely believe there is a huge amount of development still to come from Samson.”
Lawal was part of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles squad to the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations and FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Meanwhile, Lawal shone for the Flying Eagles at the U-20 AFCON tournament and the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina, scoring in the Flying Eagles’ group stage win over Italy. The midfielder last played for Pro Success FC, a side affiliated to Katsina United.
The 19-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year contract with the SPFL side, where he will play alongside experienced Nigerian defender Ayo Obileye. He joins Cyriel Dessers and Leon Balogun in moving to Scotland in this transfer window.
Lawal becomes the latest member of the 2023 Flying Eagles class to move to Europe after Jude Sunday, Rilwanu Haliru Sarki, Salim Fago Lawal, Kingsley Aniagboso and Solomon Agbalaka.
