Vice-President Kashim Shettima has commiserated with the family of late Prof. Opeyemi Ajewole, a renowned Professor of Social and Environmental Forestry.
The vice president, in a condolence message he personally authored on Tuesday in Abuja, expressed shock over the killing of Ajewole.
Ajewole was gunned down by yet-to-be-identified assailants on Monday night in Ibadan, Oyo State.
It was gathered that the don was killed while returning to his home in the Moniya area of Ibadan on Monday evening.
His corpse has been deposited at UI Anatomy.
A source in the university told our correspondent that Ajewole’s car was taken away after he was shot dead.
“I received today the shocking news of the death of Prof. Ajewole who was gunned down by yet to be identified assailants.”

“The late Ajewole, a renowned Professor of Social and Environmental Forestry, was my classmate at the University of Ibadan and his untimely death just days after personally congratulating me on my swearing-in, came as a rude shock.
“I condemn the gruesome killing of Ajewole, and wish to express my deep condolences to his family and the University of Ibadan Master Class of 1990. I pray for the repose of his gentle soul,” he said.
