UAE Launches 10-Year Golden Visa For Content Creators

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched the Golden Visa, which would allow content creators to live and work in the country for up to 10 years.

The Golden Visa programme grants long-term residency of up to 10 years to writers, filmmakers, photographers, digital storytellers, and influencers. This move is part of the UAE’s strategy to strengthen its creative industry and digital economy.

According to the UAE government website: “The Golden visa is a long-term residence visa which enables foreign talents to live, work or study in the UAE while enjoying exclusive benefits. Investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, outstanding students and graduates, humanitarian pioneers and frontline heroes are among those eligible for the Golden visa. Read about the requirements and benefits of the Golden visa, and find digital services to apply for it.”

It was launched on January 13, 2025, at Emirates Towers through what is called the Creators HQ serving as the facilitators.

The visa differs from regular work permits, offering greater flexibility and security. Unlike traditional work visas, it does not require a national sponsor, allowing individuals to focus solely on their creative careers.

Additionally, the government of the UAE allocated $40.8 million to the Content Creators Support Fund to back this initiative.

Who Can Apply for the UAE Golden Visa?

The UAE Golden Visa targets professionals in the digital and creative sectors who have made significant contributions to the industry. Eligible candidates must have:

A proven track record of impactful content creation.
Recognition or awards for their work.
Evidence of consistent audience engagement and growth.
The ability to contribute to the UAE’s digital and creative economy.

Applicants currently holding a UAE residence visa must cancel it before applying for the Golden Visa. Those with dependents must also cancel existing family visas before submission.

How to Apply for the UAE Golden Visa

The application process for the UAE Golden Visa is managed by Creators HQ, the official endorsing entity. The steps include:

  • Submission of Application – Applicants must visit the Creators HQ website and complete the online application form.
  • Nomination Approval – Successful candidates will receive a nomination email confirming their eligibility.
  • Medical Test & Documentation – Required documents include a passport, Emirates ID (if applicable), and a personal photo with a white background.
  • Visa Processing – Applicants must visit a designated Services 1 Center to process and print the Golden Visa.
  • Collection of Emirates ID – The final step involves collecting the Emirates ID from the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security.

The process is designed to be straightforward, ensuring that qualified creators can easily transition into the UAE’s thriving creative landscape.

Why the UAE Appeals to Content Creators

Dubai, in particular, has become a global hub for digital professionals. The city offers world-class infrastructure, a tax-free system, and access to a growing creative community. The UAE Golden Visa further enhances these advantages by allowing creators to focus on their work without worrying about short-term visa renewals.

“The UAE is committed to fostering a strong creative industry,” a spokesperson for Creators HQ stated. “With the Golden Visa, content creators can establish long-term careers and contribute to the digital economy.”

Dubai’s strategic location, coupled with access to advanced technology and a diverse audience, makes it an attractive destination for those looking to expand their digital presence.

Long-Term Opportunities for Content Creators

The UAE Golden Visa provides content creators with stability and long-term opportunities in a competitive market. Filmmakers, writers, photographers, and influencers can benefit from a secure work environment, financial incentives, and access to industry resources.

By offering a pathway for global talent, the UAE continues to position itself as a leader in the digital and creative economy. The Golden Visa program reflects the country’s ambition to attract top creative professionals and build a sustainable digital industry.
