Engr. Ahmad, who had been leading the FCDA for several years, has played a pivotal role in shaping the development of Abuja, particularly in managing the city’s expanding infrastructure and housing projects. Under his leadership, FCDA had been responsible for overseeing large-scale urban development programs aimed at addressing the challenges of rapid urbanization in the capital.
The timing of the suspension has raised questions, particularly given the current political climate in the FCT, where Minister Nyesom Wike, a former Governor of Rivers State, has been in office for only a few months.
It is possible that the suspension is related to ongoing internal restructuring within the FCT administration under the new minister.
Wike, known for his no-nonsense leadership style, may be seeking to overhaul the management of key agencies within the FCT to ensure more efficient governance.
