Zamfara attacks: Shinkafi urges Gov Lawal to end blame game

Former National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has urged Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, to stop shifting the blame for the state’s security challenges onto others.

Shinkafi, who also serves as the Executive Director of Patriot for Advancement of Peace and Social Development, made this statement in Abuja on Friday.

Zamfara State has faced repeated attacks from bandits and kidnappers in recent months, resulting in significant loss of life and property.

Recently, Governor Lawal, during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, attributed the state’s insecurity to the federal government and security agencies.

However, Shinkafi accused Governor Lawal of failing to fulfill his constitutional duties and deliver the promised dividends of democracy to the people of Zamfara State.

He specifically pointed out that the governor had pledged to end insecurity in the state within 100 days of taking office.

Shinkafi called for an end to the blame game as the state prepares for another round of security meetings to address the ongoing crisis.

He said, “The election is over. It is time for governance. Governor Lawal should face his administration and improve the lives of the people.

“Governor Lawal ‘lost’ one year blaming others for his inability to discharge his constitutional duties and provide dividends of democracy to the people of Zamfara State as he promised them.

“Attacking others cannot be a solution to armed banditry and poor governance in Zamfara State. The fight against banditry, kidnapping for ransom, cattle rustling is complex and demands collective action to defeat.

Lawal should act like a governor and not a governorship candidate of a political party. It is time to build a strong, united, progressive, prosperous, equitable and decent democratic society.”
